Massage Therapy Student · Silver Spring, MD

Hands that listen.
A gift freely given.

Matt Baron is a massage therapy student with an extraordinary intuitive gift — and an unorthodox offer. He isn't here to build a business. He's here to help people get out of pain. His sessions are free, and his hands will leave you feeling better.

Meet Matt
Matt Baron

Thirty years of living
in a different body.

Nearly thirty years ago, a car accident changed the course of Matt Baron's life. It left him with challenges he carries every day: speech that comes more slowly than most, a gait that relies on a cane, and a body that sometimes has to work harder than others to do ordinary things.

But something else happened in the years that followed. Living so closely with his own body — its signals, its limits, its moments of relief — gave Matt a depth of somatic awareness that is genuinely rare. He can go straight to where the pain is without you telling him. People call it a sixth sense — whatever it is, it works.

Now, nearing the end of his massage therapy program, Matt is ready to share that gift. Not as a career. Not for money. Simply because helping people get out of pain is the most meaningful thing he can imagine doing.

"His intuition is amazing. He has a gift, and the community deserves to benefit from it."

A little patience.
A lot of relief.

Matt wants you to arrive comfortable — not surprised. So here's an honest picture of what a session with him looks like. Reading this is the most important thing you can do before you come.

How Matt speaks

Matt communicates clearly and thoughtfully — it simply takes a little longer than you might expect. There's no need to finish his sentences or rush him along. Give him a moment, and you'll find the conversation is worth it.

How Matt moves

Matt walks with a cane and works primarily from a stool during sessions. This doesn't limit his hands — if anything, it keeps him grounded and focused exactly where he needs to be. Occasionally he may shift his balance; there's no cause for concern.

What the session feels like

Unhurried. Attentive. Often surprising. Matt has a rare, intuitive ability to find the thing that's holding you in pain and work it patiently until it releases. It's less like a technique and more like an instinct — he seems to just know.

What Matt asks in return

Only your patience and your presence. He asks that you come with an open mind, that you communicate about what you're feeling, and that you give him the same respect you'd extend to any skilled therapist — because that's what he is.

No charge. Ever.

Matt has a disability and receives Social Security, so running a business isn't in the cards. But that's never been the point anyway. He's here because this is what he's good at, and helping people get out of pain is what gives his life meaning.

Get in touch

Bringing this gift
to the people you serve.

Matt is looking to partner with organizations that serve people with disabilities — whether physical, cognitive, or otherwise. If you work with a population that could benefit from bodywork and you're open to something unconventional, he'd love to talk.

He asks for nothing in return. He brings his hands, his intuition, and his time. You bring the people who need it.

If this sounds like something your organization could use, check back soon for contact information.
